Looking Back: Bob Shreve

Kind of off topic for this blog but it's been a slow year for over the air TV news in the Dayton/Cincinnati markets so I thought it would be fun to look back at a famous local TV talent that once graced our TV screens, Bob Shreve.

Bob Shreve was a godsend for those of us that liked to stay up late on the weekend nights since he would appear on Friday nights in Dayton on channel 7 (I think) and Saturday nights on WCPO 9 in Cincinnati. Understand, back in the day TV channels didn't stay on the air all night. After 12:00 or 1:00 AM the channels would go dark until sometime in the morning. Times were tough back in those days when TV channels didn't broadcast 24/7. :)

Bob Shreve's show would give us three movies to watch overnight on the weekends with Bob making appearances during the commercial breaks of those shows. He was a very funny and talented host and the sponsor of his show was Schoenling beer, which in a weird way was really appealing to us kids that couldn't legally buy beer yet.

Bob was the Man!
