News Bits

If you're not receiving WKEF 22 you'll need to do a rescan. As of 12:00 noon on 07-16-2015 WKEF moved from real channel 51 to real channel 18. They're still called channel 22 but their actual frequency is now on channel 18. Confused? Don't be. Just rescan your TV or converter box and if you picked them up before, you'll pick them up again. And it isn't just WKEF that claims they are on a certain channel but in reality are on another channel altogether. All the TV channels in the United States are keeping their original frequency numbers from the analog days so that people can easily find them. It really wouldn't do for WKEF 22 to have suddenly become WKEF 51 after the analog to digital switch or now WKEF 18. That would be confusing.

Other news...

On 7-10-15 WXIX 19 in Cincinnati added the Grit TV network on sub channel 19.3. It was announced that Grit would be joining WXIX late last year and it finally happened.

And there's this...

A new Sci-Fi channel will launch sometime this fall.  The Sinclair broadcasting company will be teaming up with MGM to start the first ever free over the air Sci-Fi channel on select Sinclair TV stations. It hasn't been announced which markets the new network will debut in (or even what the new network will be called)  but with luck Cincinnati & Dayton will both get it since Sinclair operates channels 12 and 64 in Cincinnati as well as 22 & 45 in Dayton. Of the four stations mentioned, my guess would be channel 45 in Dayton will get it at launch since (IMO) Sinclair basically owns WRGT.

  1. When WKEF 22 moved to real channel 18 my analog reception of WDTN 2 changed and started digitizing. Do you know any reason this might be happening?

  2. I honestly don't know but it could be that WDTN 2 (real channel 50) is getting interference from the wireless providers that bought the TV spectrum above channel 51. WKEF 22 moved off of real channel 51 to get away from that interference and in Canada they've stopped any new TV channels from using channel 51 because of it.

  3. I am confused. ABC (WKEF) was coming on 22.1 on my converter box. Now I am getting a "no signal". Does anyone know what channel on converter Nov WKEF comes on now? According to above posts, I tried 18 and 51, but "no signal"...any advice? Thanks

  4. I've received several request similar to yours, Tammi and I wish there was an easy fix, as in a free fix but the problem is most likely the antenna that is being used. The fact that the antenna pulled in WKEF before tells me that it can do it again if the antenna is in just the right position. Other than that you may need to upgrade to a better, i.e., more expensive TV antenna or try adding a TV antenna amplifier between the antenna and TV.
